The Cat Empire - Demos/Other Australian releases - The Jazz Cat (1999)

Prior to the six-piece 'The Cat Empire' formation, there was originally a group of nine musicians led by jazz musician and educator Steve Sedergreen, called The Jazz Cat.

This four-track demo was recorded and engineered by James Clark and featured Felix Riebl (percussion), Will Hull-Brown (drums), Ryan Monro (double bass), Ollie McGill (piano), Ross Irwin (trumpet), Bed Edgar (guitar), Eric Budd (trombone), Tarko Sibbel (alto sax) and Lachlan McLean (alto and soprano sax).

A mere 200 copies were produced, with approximately 80 selling at Manly Jazz Festival in Melbourne VIC during October long-weekend 1999.

  1. I love this cd... great to hear some recorded songs from back in the old Dizzy's days. The hand-cut insleeve adds a bit of charm too.
