The Cat Empire - Australian single releases - Hello (2003)

Hello is the first single release taken from The Cat Empire's debut album, released in 2003. It was only released in New Zealand under Virgin Records, and is regarded as one of the more rare single releases (due to the NZ only release). Hello was the breakthrough single of the band for many, with the song receiving significant airplay at the time of release. Felix's 'catch phrase' - 'hchello hchello' - was the one reason many people remembered the song. This exposed the band to a more mainstream audience, with their following increasing dramatically.

The music video released of Hello received significant play on ABC's 'rage', and also the more mainstream Video Hits. It was shot (mainly) at a house party, with some shorter clips from a gig at the Metro in 2003, featuring performers from a circus. More information and footage from both of these events are on On the Attack and Live at the Bowl (respectively).

The track listing is as follows:
1. Hello - 3:43
2. East - 3:50
3. The Chariot (live version) - 7:37
4. Hello (extended version) - 4:43

The slipcase does not show who wrote what tracks, but we can assume 1, 3 and 4 were written by F Riebl, and 2 most likely by H Angus (listen to the lyrics...).
